Martinsburg Community Library Wi-Fi Policy
Wireless Internet access is provided free of charge by the MCL for patrons who have a MCL card and is a patron in good standing. Wireless Internet access users must indicate their agreement by signing our Acceptable Use Contract. You will be given a password to access the Wi-Fi network.
The MCL allows for personal devices to access the Internet via an unsecured, unencrypted wireless network throughout the library.
Use of the Library wireless and electrical connections is entirely at the risk of the user. Users should be familiar with their own personal wireless device and how to connect their own devices to a wireless network.
Library staff will provide limited technical assistance with personal devices or configurations and will not change settings and cannot guarantee that the user will be able to make a wireless connection. If the user has problems accessing the Internet over this connection, the staff will verify the Library’s wireless connection is working.
The Library assumes no responsibility for the safety of equipment. Users must keep their equipment with them at all times.
The Library’s wireless connection is unencrypted and unfiltered. Use of this connection is done at patrons own risk. By using this connection, users acknowledge that compromised personal information, security errors, viruses, hacking, electrical surges, or damage to hardware and software are a risk associated with wireless service. By using the wireless service patrons agree they are assuming such risk, and hold the library harmless from any claim or loss arising from such instance.
All users are expected to use the library's wireless access in a legal and responsible manner, consistent with the educational and informational purposes for which it is provided.
Any restriction or monitoring of a minor’s access to the Library’s wireless network is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian. The MCL assumes no responsibility for the use of the Internet by children. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to determine what is appropriate for children.
Currently there is no wireless printing capability at the library.
