Martinsburg Community Library
Johnson Memorial Genealogy & History Room One of the greatest assets of our library is the Johnson Memorial Genealogy & History Room. This collection of materials is one of the best collections in Central Pennsylvania. There is a wealth of information on the families who migrated into the Morrison Cove area from the late 1700's to present day. This collection is called The Liebegott Collection and consists of approximately 250 vols. of material on these families, plus interesting articles from newspapers, births and deaths in families and cemetery records.
There is also an extensive collection of other family histories, which were donated because of research that was started from the information that was found in the Genealogy/History Room. Town and county histories, church histories, atlas's dating back to the 1800's, a large extensive collection of obituaries from local newspapers and cemetery records for a large number of cemeteries in Blair, Bedford, and Huntington Counties are just a few of the items in our collection. We have all the history of the Morrison Cove College and Vocational School, plus the high school. This includes scrapbooks full of happenings from each year, pictures of all the graduating classes from 1920 to 1965, pictures of sports events, note books and exercise books of Edward E. Byers and his letters and writings. There is also a biography of Edward E. Byers as compiled by Rose S. Byers in 1944. All the books that the Blair County Genealogical Society has written and all the newsletters from the Blair County Historical Society are included in the collection. The following are some other items we have in the collection:
